GRAHAM BOND - Solid Bond 1974
Graham Bond's first posthumous album was realised by Warner Bros and contain several great tracks from early Organization years. The first forty minutes of original vinyl was recorded in Olimpic Studio 1966 and includes the Bond's own tracks + Booker T's Green Onion. Last thirty minutes are big surprise, because contain three true authentic jazz tracks from 1963. Doxy is the Sonny Rollins track, Ho Ho Country Kickin' Blues by Jack Bruce and last Grass is Greener (!) by Bond-McLaughlin composers couple. Great album from this artist with tragic life finished with cruel death. Sad destiny.part 1 part 2

THE SIEGEL-SCHWALL BAND - The Complete Vanguard Recordings & More!
The Siegel-Schwall Band began its career beside The Paul Butterfield Blues Band. The band was founded by Corky Siegel & Jim Schwall in Chicago. After the begining like acoustic duo they were completed with drummer & bass guitarist and at that moment they started their famous and rich Blues-Rock career. This 3cd compilation contains the all four Vanguards albums recorded between 1966 to 1970. Plus added some bonus tracks. First disc begins with two bonus tracks and continues with first same titled album from 1966. Album was recorded in Universal Recording Studio, Chicago, and contains their topical live repetory. We can find here good covers of Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon, Arthur Crudup and Jimmy Reed standards. And of course their own songs. Second disc contains the album Say Siegel-Schwall from 1967 and was already recorded in New York's Vanguard studio. Track That's Why I Treat My Baby So Fine is about my meaning one of the best bluesrock track in alltime. Third disc are the albums Shake! from 1968 and Siegel-Schwall '70. Both albums contain some covers like Willi Dixon's Shake For Me or Howlin' Wolf's Tell Me. Critics say, that the fourth album is their best and the top of the album are two live recorded tracks, Angel Food Cake and Sunshine Day In My Mind. I agree, but for my taste are all four albums very good, and I like their late albums, too. Cheers.part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5

THE BLUES TRAIN - 1970
Because I haven't got informations about this blues-rock band, I copied something about them from net. Plus I posted one Blues Train named band with album from 2005, but I don't know, wether this one is reunion album of the same group or a different band with same name. The info about the album from '70 is here:The Blues Train recorded an album of songs for the Burnaby, British Columbia based Condor label in 1970. Like label mates The Crazy People, not much is known about the band or the performers on the album. Condor Records was primarily known to be an exploit label that would record music to “cash in" on current musical trends.
There were a number of labels in circulation at the time such as Alshire in the U.S. and Arc in the Toronto area that did this type of recording. A label would hire local musicians, record cover songs of hits of the day then add a few “original"compositions written by studio writers or label personnel then release an album to the unsuspecting public at a budget price. Sometimes those “exploito" albums as they became known, would contain some remarkable music and become hits among collectors. The Blues Train appears to be one of those albums.
The original music on the album is credited to writers Joe Sanchez, Johnny Kitchen Eric Llord while there are a number of cover songs of blues standards. The album boasts some magnificent blues guitar and great vocal work by an uncredited singer. The eleven songs on the album are hot blues numbers with remarkable arrangements and tight instrumentation. The covers are true to form while the original songs can stand on their own very easily.
It is speculated that the musicians on Blues Train are the same as those that recorded the Crazy People Bedlam album but that cannot be confirmed.
With song writing credits given to Johnny Kitchen it is believed that he is prominent in the recording of this album. Johnny Kitchen, was an eccentric and prolific American singer and songwriter , who was known to be in BC around the time the album was recorded. Kitchen was credited for writing songs for The Crazy People as well as other bands that recorded on the Condor label and has built a reputation for himself over the years for his underground records and work with various bands.. Nothing is known of Joe Sanchez or the other writers.
The sound quality on this release is not great in some places no doubt due to the fact that the CD appears to have been taken from a record but it has been cleaned up in the digital mastering. Depite the glitches in sound quality, The Blues Train is a fine album of blues songs that still remains a mystery to this day. With this re-release of this album on the Gear Fab label, someone might be able to shed some light on the history of The Blues Train as well as some of the other albums associated with the Condor Records label.

CLIMAX CHICAGO - Tightly Knit 1971
This really ugly cover hides fourth album of this legend from England & was the last with classical Chicago Blues Band sound. After the previous two progressive blues albums (Plays On & A Lot Of Bottle) Tightly Knit from 1971 means step back to Chicago Blues roots and turned out very well. You can find here wonderful tracks like maybe the wildest twelve time St. Michael's Blues or Who Killed McSwiggen, full with improvisations and great sax & guitar solos, which is flash-back to previous two albums. Great record of great group. Cheers.part 1 part 2 scans

My pleasure is big, because this american group reissue Akarma records in 2001 and today is hard to find it.Music of this band is characteristic american model of progressive blues-rock with nice sax sound and I can't understand, why this group with this wonderful stuff stayed unknown before the large audience. Boys & Girls, this is one really exclusive stuff from these american guys, which recorded under the sign of Blue Horizon in early '70. The disc no.1 hides the first Bacon Fat album Grease One For Me with lot of bonus tracks. Second disc is rare & only album of Bacon Fat member, George Smith - No Time For Jive, which recorded for Blue Horizon Records in 1971 and was supplemented with bonus tracks too. LOVE SCULPTURE - Blues Helping 1968

From Wales came groups like progrock band Man or hardrock legend Budgie. Trio Love Sculpture, who played bluesrock, issues from Wales too and gave for us two good albums and one important guitarist, Dave Edmunds. I can't understand, why EMI didn't give first single River To Another Day / Brand New Woman like bonus tracks to this CD, maybe on second reedition. But fortunately, there are good tracks without this single, too, like unforgettable Gerschwin's Summertime or Dixon's Wang-Dang-Doodle. Maybe bit forget group, but really good music.
